Exit Ready Institute

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about the Exit Ready Institute. More are coming soon.

Does joining ERI mean I'm selling my business?

No. Participation in ERI doesn’t mean you’re selling your company. Some members want to sell, some want to pass the company down to family or employees, some want to double it, and some simply want a business that doesn’t require them 70 hours a week.

Is what I share with ERI kept confidential?

Yes. Your plans are nobody’s business but yours.

What is the Exit Ready Institute (ERI)?

ERI is a 12-month program for business owners, built around a 12-module curriculum and a confidential mastermind of 8–15 non-competing owners. It’s designed to make your business more valuable, transferable and easier to run, whichever path you choose.

What are the four owner paths?

Grow, Own, Pass and Exit: same ERI methodology, four destinations.

  • Grow: build a bigger, more profitable business.
  • Own: keep it, but make it run without you.
  • Pass: keep it in the family or transition it internally.
  • Exit: be ready to sell on your terms and your timeline.
What does the 12-month program cover?

Four quarters:

  • Foundation: business valuation and gap analysis, your financial freedom number, a big hairy audacious goal.
  • Build: core values, brand and marketing; partnerships and continuity; people (right seat, right comp).
  • Protect: disaster and key-person planning, retirement strategies, legal and estate.
  • Optimize: tax structure and annual plan, long-term tax and reinvestment, velocity of money.
How do I get started?

Request a 15-minute call with our team through our contact page. Not ready to speak with someone? Take the confidential 5-minute Owner Optionality Assessment to get your Business Optionality Score and a recommended path: grow, own, pass, or exit. You can also browse our resources.

What happens after I contact ERI?

Kerry, or a member of the ERI team, will reach out within 1–2 business days. You’ll have a short conversation to see if it’s a fit, including checking that your profession isn’t already filled in the current cohort. No pressure, no obligation.

Will competitors be in my group?

No. Seats are limited to one owner per profession, per cohort, and the mastermind is made up of non-competing owners.

Is there something I can read before I commit?

Yes. Download Chapter One of Unchained free, or browse the guidebooks, webinars, blog and podcast on the Resources page.
